The German Medical Centre Carvoeiro was founded in 2001 by Dr Angelika Souchon (specialist in gynaecology and obstetrics) and Prof. Dr Hartmut Brandau (specialist in gynaecology and obstetrics, as well as cosmetic surgery).
After Prof Dr Brandau left the medical team, private lecturer Dr Peter Herzog (specialist in internal medicine and gastroenterology) joined as a new partner.
The basic idea behind the new specialist centre was to unite as many disciplines as possible under one roof with a high level of specialist expertise.

The equipment and availability of state-of-the-art devices within the specialist disciplines is a prerequisite. The doctors working here attach particular importance to individual, personalised patient care so that holistic diagnostics and therapy can be applied.
All doctors have extensive specialist knowledge (partly from many years of experience in their own large specialist practices, partly as senior physicians or chief physicians in large clinics) and are multilingual, so that most patients can be cared for in their native language, which significantly improves communication.
The German Medical Centre Carvoeiro has been in existence for 19 years, so there are excellent connections with other specialist colleagues and the local clinics. An experienced medical assistant - also multilingual - has been competently coordinating the management of the German Medical Centre for many years.
